About Veyen

We built the booking page our barbers never had.

Veyen is two people, Omar Toure and Zul Ahmed, starting in the Bronx and Harlem. This is why.

The DM problem

Try booking a cut in the Bronx on a Friday. You DM the barber. You wait. You get a “u tryna come at 4?” three hours later, after you already made other plans. You say yes to 6 instead, and when you pull up, someone else is in the chair.

Nobody did anything wrong. The barber was cutting. That's the job. The phone just isn't a calendar, and a notes app isn't a waitlist.

What the shops are already paying for it

The people who do our hair run real businesses out of their phones. They answer the same five questions every day: how much, how long, are you open Sunday, do you do kids, is there a deposit. They chase deposits over Cash App and lose afternoons to no-shows they can't do anything about.

The booking software that exists mostly wasn't built for them. It's priced like a salon chain, it makes clients download an app and make an account, and the “website” it gives you looks exactly like everybody else's.

So we're building the other thing

Every shop on Veyen gets its own site, not a link-in-bio: its story, its prices, its photos, its rules, in a layout that fits the kind of shop it is. A braider's page shouldn't look like a barbershop's.

Clients book in about a minute with just a name and a phone number. The time is held while they finish, the deposit comes off the total, and the shop gets a text instead of a DM. If the shop cancels, the deposit comes back. If the client doesn't show, it doesn't.

That's most of it. It isn't complicated, which is kind of the point.

Omar and Zul

Omar Toure and Zul Ahmed are the cofounders. We're New Yorkers who've spent a lot of Saturdays on a barbershop bench, and a lot of late nights building software.

We're starting in the Bronx and Harlem because that's home, and because if it works for a packed shop on a Saturday there, it'll work anywhere. We're building it with the shops, so if you run one, tell us what's broken about how you book today.
